How CommuteLive collects, uses, and protects customer information across our website and mobile app.
Who controls your information
P2L Labs LLC, a New York limited liability company doing business as CommuteLive, is the business responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Mailing address: P2L Labs LLC, c/o Registered Agents Inc., 418 Broadway, Ste R, Albany, NY 12207. Email: [email protected].
Information we collect
We collect the information you provide when you subscribe for updates, place an order, or contact support. This can include your name, email address, phone number, shipping details, city, and order details.
We also receive limited technical information automatically when you visit the site, such as your IP address and browser type, which is used to operate the site securely and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting our contact and checkout forms).
Checkout payments are processed by Stripe. CommuteLive does not receive or store your full payment card number.
How we use information
We use customer information to process and ship orders, provide support, send requested updates and order notifications, improve coverage planning, and operate and secure the CommuteLive service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Service providers we share with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only to the extent required to perform their service:
Stripe processes payments and handles your card details directly. Resend delivers our transactional and confirmation emails. Datadog receives service and device telemetry we use to operate and troubleshoot the product. Our cloud hosting provider runs the website and the CommuteLive backend. Pirate Ship generates shipping labels for your order, and delivery is carried out by USPS or UPS — these receive your name and shipping address in order to deliver physical orders.
For the mobile app: Apple and Google provide the Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in options you can use to create and access your account. Datadog provides the analytics, diagnostics, and crash reporting we use to operate and troubleshoot the app (see "The CommuteLive mobile app" below).
These providers are bound to handle your information on our behalf.
Cookies, analytics, and tracking
CommuteLive does not use advertising trackers or third-party marketing cookies, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising. With your permission, the website uses Google Analytics to measure page views, traffic sources, and interactions such as successful waitlist submissions. Google may receive limited browser and device information and set analytics cookies. We do not send your email address or selected city to Google Analytics. You can decline analytics or change your choice at any time using Analytics preferences in the website footer.
The mobile app uses Datadog to collect first-party analytics and diagnostics — such as in-app activity, performance, and crash data — solely to operate, secure, and improve the app. This is not advertising tracking and is not shared for advertising purposes.
The CommuteLive mobile app
The CommuteLive mobile app lets you set up and manage your display. This section describes the information the app handles.
Account: When you create an account we store your email address and an internal user ID. You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google; we receive a verified email and a sign-in identifier from the provider you choose. If you use Sign in with Apple's private relay, we receive only the relay email address.
Device setup over Bluetooth: During setup the app connects to your display over Bluetooth to send your Wi-Fi network name and password to the device. This exchange is end-to-end encrypted and the Wi-Fi password is delivered directly to your display; CommuteLive does not store your Wi-Fi password on our servers.
Device and display data: To operate your display we store your device settings and configuration, such as selected transit lines, stops, display preferences, schedules, firmware version, and connectivity and diagnostic logs from the device.
Analytics and diagnostics: The app uses Datadog to collect first-party analytics, performance, and crash data to operate and improve the app. This diagnostic data is associated with your account (user ID and email). It is used only to run and troubleshoot the service and is never used for advertising.
What device telemetry reveals: To keep your display working we receive operational data from the device, including when it is powered on and connected, its Wi-Fi signal strength, firmware version, restarts and errors, the transit lines and stops you have selected, and the schedules and quiet hours you have set. Taken together this can indicate when your display — and so your home or office — is in use. We use it only to operate, support, and troubleshoot your device, we never sell it or use it for advertising, and device connectivity and diagnostic logs are deleted after 90 days.
Deleting your account: You can permanently delete your account from within the app at any time (Settings). Deleting your account removes your account and associated data from our systems and revokes the Sign in with Apple connection where applicable.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You can delete your app account and its associated data at any time from within the app.
Specifically: order, payment, and tax records are kept for 7 years to meet tax and accounting obligations. Support emails are kept for 3 years. Device connectivity and diagnostic logs are kept for 90 days. Marketing list subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Account data, display settings, and schedules are deleted when you delete your account.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to request a copy of it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address associated with your order or request. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children's privacy
CommuteLive is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
